We are very excited to finally release the Twilight of the Arnor beta! Not all of the final features are included in this beta, so that we can focus on testing specific features. To that end, please do not use mods while beta testing, as we don't want to beta test the mods at this point.

Please post bug reports in the Beta Reports section of the forums. For further instructions on submitting reports, please see
this thread:

+ Terran, Drengin, and Arcean tech-trees now specific to their race

My Beta plan:
________________

Lets see here...

1 game to get a feel.
3 games to throughly test the races (1 as each).
1 to test this "Immense" size galaxies.

Maybe a few more games after that to cover anything I missed.

This is trivial and could very well be my fault, so I'm bringing it up here instead of in it's own thread. After installing TA from Stardock Central (SDC), there's no launch shortcut on my Vista desktop. I can launch it from within SDC and I'll create a shortcut from the C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Twilight directory. But, just in case this is not expected behavior, I thought I'd bring it up. "Changing Chapters" from within the old DL/DA startup program doesn't include TA (probably expected behavior). The TALaunch version does include everything.

We're having some trouble with the TALaunch.exe on Vista, so that's why it's not launching the launcher from SDC.

Did it install the icons in the Games Explorer for you?

I pre-ordered TA 26th september and it doesn't show up in the games registered to my account when I "looked up the serial number...". It's been a month so I guess it should be there.

I've had to do the following for DA, and now for TA:

In Stardock Central:
Tools-->Settings...--->Lookup serial number

That got me my serial, which I added to the serial field in the Games menu also in the settings (selecting TA from the list).

Thanks very much for pointing this out. Beta, here I come. Or not, past bed time here. If I would start a game now I won't get any sleep at all :/

Q> I know its only beta 1 but Mars still has the old planet texture. Is this going to change for the final release?

Just a question, not an accusation

BTW after playing the beta in the Immense size galaxy i have submitted a minor request via the GC2suggestions email addy. Hopefully one of the devs will take a second to look at it

TA launches from SDC fine. It's just that by default, no launch icon is put on the desktop. I made my own shortcut to TALaunch.exe and it works fine. I'm embarrassed to say I never thought to look in Games Explorer. But, after you mentioned it, I checked and all that's there is a launcher for DL: no DA and no TA.

I got a confirmation mail just a minute ago Oh my that was fast. Thanks Stardock.

Immense Galaxies! COOL! I have always enjoyed epic-huge scenarios.

I've been wondering what is the grandest (most-uber?) hardware the devs have available?

I recently had a lightning strike, moving up my plans for upgrades sooner than planned. I ended up going with a QX6600 @ ~2.9GHz on an ASUS P5W-DH, MSI NX8600GT, and a Samsung 244T 24" LCD. The game plays and look great at 1920x1200! But I'd really like to see the game on a 30" LCD at 2550x1600 rez. I've been able to verify that the game seems to use all 4 CPU cores, but to what extent I'm not sure.
