My friends D'Arcy and Jeff and I went to Spicer Apple Orchards this Sunday to pick apples. Jeff's parents, sister and uncle also came with us, and his sister's family. It was the first time that I'd ever gone, but Jeff and his family have been going for years.

It's really gorgeous with all the leaves changing color, and the apples themselves are very colorful. The weather was just perfect, sunny and in the sixties. It didn't take us that long to fill up our grocery bags full of apples. I split a bag with D'Arcy and Jeff, which ended up being a good deal for us. I have lots of apples now, so I'm just going to have to make apple crisp.

I also got apple cider, fresh doughnuts and german kettle corn. It was not a low-carb weekend.

Anyway, I recommend a trip to the orchard for anyone in search of something to do for the weekend. There's also a pumpkin patch and a petting zoo and stuff for the kids.
Here's a link to Spicer's website. It's not much to look at, but it does have directions and a schedule for when the different varieties of apples come into season.
