I think that we've mentioned a couple of times that GC2 will support resolutions higher than 1024 x 768. Instead of just stretching everything like most games do, though, we actually are going to use the extra space. So by going to a higher resolution, you will actually get to view more of the star map than if you were running at the basic 1024x768. Also, if you run in windowed mode, you can set the size of the window to be any size as long as it's no larger than your desktop resolution and no smaller than 1024x768. So you can get the benefits of running in windowed mode but still be able to click on your taskbar.

Disclaimer: none of the following images reflect the final quality of images in Gal Civ 2. Particularly the ones from my desktop computer.

This first image is from my desktop pc. My desktop's resolution is 1280x1024. GC2 is running in a window sized at 1280x1000.
Click on the images to enlarge them. All of the images show GC2 in tactical mode.

This second image is from my laptop, whose desktop resolution is 1280x800, with GC2 running in a window of 1280x748.

This final image is from my desktop again, running at 1024x768.

version of the tactical map. If you zoom out enough, the nice pretty planets morph into a tactical map.

OK, I missed that you could zoom in and out on the main screen. Thanks.

atever zoom you are comfortable working with.  I made all my screenshots with tactical mode because the difference in viewable area is most noticeable.
